28 remanded in custody in Amed-based political operations - UPDATED

The number of people remanded in custody as a result of this week's Amed-based political operations rose to 28.

128 people were taken into custody as a result of the Amed-based political operations involving 21 cities. Arrest warrants were issued against a total of 216 people, including journalists, politicians, lawyers and artists. 28 people were remanded in custody on Thursday.

Mesopotamia Agency (MA) Editor Abdurrahman Gök, JINNEWS Correspondent Beritan Canözer and journalists Mehmet Şah Oruç and Remzi Akkaya, who were transferred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on Thursday, 27 April, were remanded in custody on charges of "being members of a terrorist organization".

During the night, the number of those remanded in custody increased to 28.
Those sent to prison on the same charges are: Devrim Roni Atik, Kadir Şenci, Berfin Can, Muhsin Acar, Osman Demir, Rumet Çetin, Mehdi Kaya, Cotkar Amara Yürek, Hamza Cihangir, Longing Yelboğa, Suat Arda Işık, Şahin Shaped, Hakim Kaya, Mikail Barut, Tacettin Araz, Nurullah Özgün, Abdulbari Marlay, Ferit Aktepe, Şervan Doğan, Cesur Yılmaz and Süleyman Ulucan.

3 lawyers sent to prison

Lawyers Serhat Hezer, Burhan Arta and Özüm Vurgun were among those sent to prison on the charge of "membership in a terrorist organization".

Lawyers Eylül Özgültekin, Gurbet Özbey Öner and Jiyan Sametoğlu were released under judicial control measures, while lawyers Mustafa Şenci, Bünyamin Şeker, Berdan Acun and Halise Dakalı, Kenan Ayğay and Fırat Taşkın were released under judicial control and were banned from traveling abroad.

Other people released under judicial control were: artists Elvan Koçer and Şahperi Alphan Bayhan, Xwebûn newspaper owner Kadir Esen.

Those released under judicial control and banned from traveling aboard were: Ramazan Kaval, Talip Turan, director of the 78's Association Abdulgani Alkan, Avaşin Yanar, Tarık Aydemir, Müslüm Şahinsoy, Süleyman Avcı, Havva Gençoğlu, Mehmet Menge, Zeynep Demir, Seyit Özbaş, Sadrettin İnal and a person named Çekdar, whose surname cannot be learned, theater artists Özcan Ateş, Yavuz Akkuzu, Devrim Demir, Hamdusena Özbey, Mehmet Yalçın, Hüsamettin Kılıç.

The other detainees are expected to be referred to the courthouse.
