Istanbul police directorate has announced that 136 people have been taken into custody so far today.

Thousands who have gathered in Beşiktaş district of Istanbul have also been attacked by police teams that are enhancing the brutal intervention on masses that took to the streets today to mark the International Worker's Day.

The demonstrators in Beşiktaş, led by DISK, KESK, TMMOB and TIB, have been attacked soon upon attempting to start their march to the Taksim Square to which police forces continue denying access.

As many as 20,000 police have been deployed around the square today.
