49 people were taken into custody in connection with the explosion that killed 6 people and injured 81 people on Taksim Istiklal Street on Sunday. They were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan on Thursday to give their statements at the prosecutor's office. Two people were released after the police statements.
After the deposition proceedings were over, Ahlam Albashir (the woman accused of having left the bomb) and 16 other people who allegedly carried out the attack were referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest. While 3 people were referred with a request to be released under judicial control, a deportation decision was made for 29 people.
17 people were remanded in custody on charges of "destroying the unity of the state and the integrity of the country", "killing using bombing or using nuclear, biological or chemical weapons and attempting to kill".
Three of the suspects were released after judicial control measures were applied against them.
