175 workplace deaths recorded in September in Turkey

At least 175 workplace homicides were reported in September according to a recent report of the Workers’ Health and Work Safety Assembly (İSİG).

The Workers’ Health and Work Safety Assembly (İSİG) published its report on workplace homicides in September.

According to the report, at least 175 workers died in September. The report said that at least 1,674 workers lost their lives in the first 9 months of the year. 153 workers who died in September were wage-labourers and 22 were self-employed, according to the same report.

WOMEN, CHILDREN AND REFUGEE WORKERS ALSO DIED

The report further said that 18 workers who died in September were women, and 157 others were men. 5 workers were refugees and another 5 were child workers.

The report revealed that most of the workplace deaths occurred in Istanbul.

"13 deaths in Istanbul, 11 in Kocaeli, 10 in Urfa and Tekirdağ each, 9 in Bursa, 8 in Antalya and İzmir each, 7 in Ankara, 5 in Adana and Çorum each, 4 in Hatay, Karabük, Kayseri, Konya, Mersin, Sakarya and Samsun each, 3 in Bilecik, Bolu, Amed, Muğla and Trabzon each, 2 in Ağrı, Denizli, Düzce, Eskişehir, Antep, Maraş, Kırıkkale, Manisa and Mardin, 1 death each in Adıyaman, Afyon, Aksaray, Artvin, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bartın, Bingöl, Edirne, Elazığ, Erzurum, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Isparta, Karaman, Kastamonu, Kırklareli, Kilis, Kütahya, Malatya, Ordu, Osmaniye, Siirt, Sinop, Uşak, Zonguldak.”
