19 lawyers face charges for protesting the Ankara massacre

19 lawyers standing trial for protesting the massacre in Ankara in 2015 in which 103 people were killed, face charges.

A group of lawyers made a statement at the Istanbul Courthouse on October 12, 2015 to protest the massacre that took place on October 10, 2015.

A lawsuit has been filed against 19 lawyers with the allegation of "making propaganda for an organization" and "opposing the protest and march law no 2911" with this action.

20th hearing of the case was held at the Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court in Çağlayan.

Lawyer Sezin Uçar and Ali Coşkun, who stand trial without arrest, attended the hearing while other lawyers were not present.

Prosecutor demanded that 19 lawyers be sentenced for "violating the law on meetings and demonstrations no. 2911" and "making propaganda for an organization".

Uçar and Çoşkun requested time to defend against the opinion. Defense lawyers also made the same request.

The court board accepted the request for time and postponed the hearing to 15 January 2021.
