2.500 Swiss citizens issue call for Afrin

2.500 Swiss citizens including politicians, academics and human rights representatives have called for a stop to the attacks against Afrin. The demand has been submitted to the Switzerland Federal Council.

A group of Swiss citizens launched a petition for Afrin and gathered 2.500 signatures, which have been submitted to the Switzerland Federal Council in a letter. The 2.500 Swiss citizens including politicians, academics, human rights representatives and artists call for an end to the invasion attempt against Afrin and demand that Switzerland take a clear stand against Turkey. The signatories’ demands were presented via a letter directly to the Switzerland Federal Council Chairperson Alain Berset and the Federal Council members.

The letter sent to the Council members states that the Turkish state has launched an invasion attempt against Afrin along with gangs and that hundreds of people including women and children have lost their lives in the Turkish state bombings to date.

DEMANDS

The letter concludes with the following demands from the Switzerland Federal Council Chairperson Alain Berset and the Council Members:

“The Switzerland Federal Council should call the Turkish Ambassador and issue their condemnation for the Turkish state invading Afrin.

The Switzerland Federal Council should issue a moratorium on arms sales to the Middle East and the Arab peninsula.

The Switzerland Federal Council should create a secure zone in Rojava along with other international forces.”
