20 Kurdish politicians jailed in Mardin

20 members of the Democratic Regions' Party (DBP) have been jailed in Mardin, while detainments continued in Nusaybin and Cizre.

AKP government continues its political genocide operations against the Kurdish people whom it cannot suppress or intimidate despite all the attacks and repression.

As part of the ongoing operations, 20 politicians held in custody in Mardin for 18 days have been arrested, while 4 people were detained in Nusaybin and a Peace Mother in Cizre.

MARDİN

Out of the 31 administrations of Democratic Regions' Party (DBP) branches in Mardin and its Derik, Mazıdağı, Nusaybin, Savur, Dargeçit, Ömerli and Kızıltepe districts, who had been detained on November 1, 20 were formally arrested.

The 31 Kurdish politicians were referred to the prosecutor's office to give their statements after 18 days in custody at Mardin Police Headquarters. 11 of them were released on conditions of judicial control and 20 were referred to court with a demand for their arrest.

All the 20 politicians were later remanded in custody and sent to Mardin Type E Closed Prison for alleged "membership to a terrorist organization".

The jailed politicians include DBP Mardin provincial co-chair Ahmet Eken, DBP Kızıltepe district co-chair Ali Dinler, Nusaybin Municipality Council members Selime Aslan and Şeyba Şık, DBP Nusaybin district co-chairs Ziynet Algan and Celal Ata, DBP Nusaybin district administrator Necat Kozluk.

NUSAYBİN

In Mardin's Nusaybin district, 4 people were detained as a result of house raids, including former co-mayor Ahmet Dinç and Selahattin Eyyubi neighborhood mukhtar Hayrettin Çakır. The 4 detainees were taken to Mardin Police Headquarters.

CİZRE

In Şırnak's Cizre district, Peace Mothers' Assembly Member Zekiye Akdoğan, 55, was detained as a result of house raid by police forces. Akdoğan was taken to Cizre District Police Headquarters.
