21 killed, 190 injured in Kirkuk

Twenty one people were killed and more than 190 injured on Wednesday in seperate attacks and explosions across the northern Iraq city of Kirkuk.

Fifteen people died and more than 150 were injured in an attack by a suicide bomber who targeted the office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) office in the region of Rahimawa. The suicide attack was followed by an explosion in front of a police department in a central neighborhood. At least two police officers were reported killed and dozens of people injured in the explosion, including three executives of the KDP.

At least four people died and 25 others were injured in three other separate explosions in Kirkuk's Hurmatu town on Wednesday. The number of casualties is feared to increase as some of the injured are reported to be facing critical situation.

The Council of Ministers of Kurdistan Regional Government held an urgent meeting upon Wednesday's attacks in Kirkuk. Speaking to Rudaw daily, government spokesman Sefin Dizeyi strongly condemned the attacks and said the KRG is ready to provide all kind of supports especially for the treatment of the wounded in its hospitals.
