37 people who had been taken into custody  following a police operation in Gülsuyu, Sancaktepe and Gazi neighborhoods, in Istanbul, on 7 October have been referred to court on Thursday.

The operation against nearly 60 addresses in three neighborhoods had targeted the members of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and People's Front organization.

Istanbul provincial assembly of People's Democratic Congress (HDK) will make a statement on the detentions at noon.

On the other hand, police attacked hundreds of people who gathered in front of the court to protest against the detentions after the referral of detainees to the court.

Police attacked the group outside the courthouse with intense pressure water and took five demonstrators into custody.
