Police operations, described by the BDP as "silent continuing KCK operations" are continuing with 47 people having been detained in the last week, 21 of them children. Yesterday (4 December) there were raids on several addresses in Amed.
In Fatih neighbourhood of Bağlar district armed uniformed and plainclothes police accompanied by armoured cars raided the house of Muzafer İlhan, the President of the Özgür Yurttaş Derneği (Free Citizens Association), and the house of Muhsine Burukman in Körhat neighbourhood in the same district.
There were no arrests, but the police searched the houses for an hour and filmed the searches.
Raids and arrests have been stepped up in Kurdistan prior to the local elections.
In the last week 47 people have been detained, 21 of them children, as the result of raids in many towns, particularly in Amed, Şirnak and Urfa.
There have also been arrests in Cizre and the police have targeted members of the BDP Youth Assembly following last week's congress.
On 3 December BDP Diyarbakır Provincial executive Hüseyin Daş and Kayapınar Deputy Mayor Mustafa Demir were detained.
The BDP has stated that from October until mid-November 158 people had been arrested, drawing attention to the fact that the continuing KCK operations are targeting the BDP prior to the local elections.
