48 more prisoners join the indefinite-irreversible hunger strike

The indefinite and irreversible hunger strike of twelve PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) prisoners in Van F Type prison has entered the thirteenth day.

After 18 PKK inmates in Bingöl M Type Closed Prison escaped from the jail on 25 September, 17 were arrested in an expansive military operation while the whereabouts of the other one still remains unknown. 12 of the fugitives were transferred to Van F Type prison where they have reportedly been subjected to arbitrary practices and orders during and after their transfer to Van F Type prison.

The fugitives who were placed in cells away from those of political prisoners started hunger strike on 28 October to protest against the prison administration for not answering their demand to stay with other political prisoners.

The protest has been joined by 48 other prisoners who have turned their alternate hunger strike to indefinite and irreversible strike on Saturday. Inmates said they will not end the strike until their demands are met.
