Turkish police and gendarmerie forces carried out house raids in Birecik, Halfeti, Suruç and Hilvan districts of Urfa on June 13. As many as 13 people were taken into custody in the operation because of their posts on social media.
The detainees were then referred to Urfa Courthouse, accused of “spreading terrorist propaganda”.
8 of the detainees were released while 5 were remanded in custody and sent to Urfa T Type Prison.
