The German Federal Minister of the Interior, Thomas De Maizière, has announced that 620 Turkish citizens have applied for asylum in Germany last July. The number shows a significant increase from the previous months.

According to the data provided by German Interior Ministry, 433 Turkish citizens applied for asylum in June and 498 in May.

The ministry also announced that 22 percent of the applications for asylum were accepted in July.
