70 detained at Artuklu University in Mardin

Seventy people at the Artuklu University in Mardin have been taken into custody as part of an investigation of corruption.

Large number of police teams affiliated to Mardin police headquarters have taken part in the operation which began in the morning and has reportedly resulted in the detention of 70 employees following a detailed search in faculties and institutions at the campus. 40 among them are reported to have been taken to Mardin police headquarters after being subjected to health check at hospital.

Vice rector Kadri Yıldırım, Prof. Dr. Zekiye Sarıkaltal from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University Secretary General Süleyman Bayburt and his Assistant Sedat Gül have been summoned to police headquarters for testimony as part of the investigation.
