The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Sunday that the number of the Turkish-backed mercenaries who were killed on the frontlines in Nagorno-Karabakh has risen to 72. On the other hand, the Turkish government is preparing a new batch of Syrian fighters to be sent to Azerbaijan in the next few days, SOHR said.
Yesterday, SOHR sources said that Turkish security companies and Turkish intelligence continue to transfer and train large numbers of fighters of Turkish-backed factions to join the fighting in Azerbaijan. It is worth noting that the number of fighters arrived in Azerbaijan rose to nearly 1,200, mostly of Turkmen descent, according to the Observatory date.
Citing reliable sources, SOHR stated that the Turkish government had thrown Syrian mercenaries into the ongoing battles in the contested Nagorno-Karabakh between Azerbaijan and Armenia, after informing the mercenaries that their task was confined to the “guarding of oil fields and borders” in Azerbaijan.
