78 people were detained in four cities of North Kurdistan

Political genocide operations against the Kurdish population in Turkey continue unabated.

In Ağrı, Iğdır, Van and Amed, 78 people were taken into custody as part of the political genocide operations by the Turkish state in North Kurdistan.

Ağrı

Yesterday morning the Turkish police raided houses in Doğubayazıt, Patnos, Tutak, Diyadin, Taşlıçay, Hamur and Eleşkirt districts and Ağrı city center, and detained many people. Those detained in the operation were transferred to the provincial and district police departments. 55 people were taken into custody on the pretext of social media posts and participation in funerals and press conferences in 2014-2015.

The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-mayoral candidate for Ağrı, Yeliz Karaaslan, who was detained on her way to a funeral yesterday, is expected to appear at the prosecutor's office tomorrow along with 55 other detainees.

Iğdır

In Iğdır, 10 of the 12 people who were issued arrest warrants, were detained during home raids. The names of those taken into custody are as follows: Erol Kızılay, Murat Eker, Mahmut Kalkan, Şerafettin Kızılay, Adem Açılan, Ruhat Karadeniz and Ferhat Taşdemir.

Van

This morning seven people were detained in house raids in Erciş district of Van. Abdurrahman Fidan, Şirin Sakur, Muhtilla Dag, Bulent Zilanlı, Harun Yildiz, Eda Umac and Seyithan Telek were taken to the district police department.

Amed

The Turkish police today also raided several houses in Amed. Six people were detained in the operation over their social media posts. It was learned that the police violently raided the houses, broke the doors and inspected every house in detail. The number of detainees is expected to increase.

The names of those who were detained are as follows: Vesile Uzan Alişan, Halime Uzan Alişan, Türkan Afşin Uzan (Yenişehir Council Member), Mesut Yıldız, Muhsin Acar (Youth Assembly member in Kayapınar), Yusuf Gündüz (Date Processing employee in Kayapınar).
