8 HDP members detained in Ankara

The Turkish regime’s repression against the HDP continues.

Members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Mamak district organization handed out leaflets protesting the AKP regime’s seizure of HDP-run municipalities of Amed (Diyarbakır), Mardin and Van through the removal of the elected mayors and appointment of trustees in their place on August 19.

8 HDP members handing out leaflets in the neighborhoods were taken into custody by the riot police who said that it was forbidden to distribute leaflets against trustees.

The HDP members, who include HDP Mamak district branch co-chair Nasihat Varlı, were taken to Yavuz Selim police station and the leaflets were seized.
