Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD) member lawyer Aryen Turan was taken into custody for a speech she gave on behalf of her association at the 2022-2024 Ordinary General Assembly of the Izmir Bar Association, on 22 October.

In her speech she demanded an investigation into the use of chemical weapons and the release of ill prisoners, chanting the slogan "Jin jiyan azadi".

İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation against Turan, who was the victim of a racist attack after her speech. Turan was taken to the İzmir Provincial Security Directorate after her health check.
