Şenyaşar family continues justice vigil in front of courthouse

The Şenyaşar family continues their justice vigil in front of the courthouse in Urfa province. The family urged public to join and promote their vigil.

The Şenyaşar family’s vigil in front of the courthouse in Urfa continues on its 70th day. Emine Şenyaşar’s husband and two sons were killed in an armed attack by the bodyguards and relatives of AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız in 2018. Moreover, her son Ferit Şenyaşar, was injured in the attack. The Şenyaşar family restarted the justice vigil in front of the courthouse following the end of the lockdown in Turkey.

Ferit Şenyaşar noted that the family continued the vigil for 17 days at home due to the lockdown, saying, "We repeat our request. There occurred a massacre at the Suruç State Hospital. Three of our people were killed. The Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor launches no investigation into the massacre. We are waiting here for those who want to join and promote our vigil.”

'THOSE WHO KILLED MY FAMILY ARE FREE, WHILE MY SON IS ARRESTED'

Emine Şenyaşar said that "We are again in front of the courthouse. Let the hospital records be made public. We will not leave here before this is done. They are persecuting us. Why does the prosecutor not present the records? My son has been kept in solitary confinement for three years. The murderers of my children are free. We just want justice."

While the family was making a statement to the journalists, the police intervened and took the family out of the courthouse’s yard without any justification. The family continues the action in front of the concrete blocks near the courthouse.

On the social media account of the family, the following statement was issued: "Our struggle for JUSTICE continues in front of the Şanlıurfa Palace of Justice. We will continue to stay in front of the courthouse until a legal action is taken against the 23 people involved in the massacre in the hospital determined by the prosecutor. We are victims of the massacre. We only want justice."
