A thousand people cross to Kobanê to fight ISIS

Tens of thousands of people are continuing to protest at the border in solidarity with the YPG, YPJ forces who are fighting against the ISIS gangs in Kobanê.

Around a thousand youths have crossed the border in order to join the YPG.

The tent which was set up in solidarity with Kobanê 2 days ago in the village of Ovan is carrying on in the village of Etmanik opposite Kobanê.

People have been coming to the tent for 2 days. Tens of thousands of young people are in Etmanik village, near the Mürşitpınar border gate. Sometimes tension between the youths who are trying to cross to Kobanê and Turkish soldiers escalates. The people in the village are supporting the resistance of the YPG with slogans, chanting "long live the resistance of Kobanê."

Since the morning, people who are able to fight against the ISIS gangs have been returning to Kobanê to  military positions after they left the elderly and children on the Turkish side of the border. Meanwhile, hundreds of youths pouring into the village of Etmanik from many different cities of Kurdistan have crossed the border to join the YPG and YPJ ranks. The number of young people who have joined the YPG and YPJ has reached a thousand. Thousands of people are continuing to wait at the border.

‘Kobanê is free and will remain free’

Meanwhile, a delegation of DTK, HDP and DBP which went to Kobanê in order to support the people there has met with the people and the executives of Kobanê and returned through the Mürşitpınar border gate.

The co-president of the DBP (Party of Democratic Regions) Kamuran Yüksek, issuing a short statement on behalf of the delegation, drew attention to the resistance of Kobanê. He underlined that the target of much news regarding Kobanê is to create speculation and propaganda, adding that all of Kobanê is under the control of the YPG. He said that Kobanê is free and will remain free. Underlining that it is impossible for the ISIS gangs to be successful in Kobanê, Yüksek said: "if ISIS gangs occupy Kobanê, it means that there is a threat of  massacres not only for the Kurdish people, but also for the Turks and other communities in the region. Because of this, not only the Kurdish people, but all of the people have to resist the ISIS gangs together."
