Abbas: 1,200 Iraqi families have returned from Hol Camp

The Ministry of Migration and Displacement has announced that a total of 1,200 Iraqi families have returned from Hol Camp so far.

Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement spokesperson Ali Abbas announced in a statement to Iraqi media that 1,200 families had returned from Hol Camp in Cizre Canton following the completion of security checks.

He further emphasized that due to ongoing security concerns in the camp and the unstable situation in Syria, the Iraqi government is continuing its efforts to facilitate the repatriation of its citizens from Hol Camp.

According to Abbas, the government has completed three phases of the repatriation process as part of its broader efforts to close the camp.

Abbas also noted that approximately 833 Iraqi families remain in the camp and clarified that "Iraq has not allowed anyone who is not an Iraqi citizen to enter its territory. All those returning are Iraqi citizens. The repatriation process is carried out through detailed procedures, including DNA testing to verify their identities."
