Abdullah Öcalan's birthday celebrated in Aarau and Chur

Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's birthday was celebrated with events held in the Swiss cities of Aarau and Chur.

Celebrations were held in the Swiss cities of Aarau and Chur for the 74th birthday of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

AARAU

Organized by the Rojbin Women's Assembly in Aarau at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center, the event started with a minute’s silence in memory of the Kurdistan Freedom Martyrs. Aarau Mehmet Tunç Council co-chair İdris Uzkaş said: "The birth of the Leader is the birth of a people, not just of a person."

Dilan Çetinkaya, spokesperson of the Rojbin Women's Council, said: “We as a people are very lucky that we have such a leader. We see the birth of our Leader as the rebirth of the Kurdish people. We have not heard from our Leader for more than 2 years. We condemn the heavy isolation imposed on our Leader. We will fight until we liberate our Leader. Rojbûna te piroz be ey Serokê me (Happy birthday, our President).”

Poetry and music recitals were performed at the event.

CHUR

Abdullah Öcalan's 74th birthday was celebrated with an event organized by the Chur Kurdish People's Assembly at the Democratic Kurdish People's Center. At the event, drawing attention to the absolute isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali, the speakers said: "We celebrate the birth of our Leadership. The year 2023 will be the year of our Leader's freedom."

Celebrations will continue in Switzerland on 4 April, organized by the Swiss Kurdish Women's Union (YJK-S).
