The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has sent a note to all the universities announcing the imposition of a ban on all the academics including rectors to leave the country. The ban will remain in force until a further notice.

YÖK also asked that the academics in relation with the Cemaat (Gülen movement) be notified to their side within a month.

YÖK yesterday urged the resignation of 1,577 deans around the country; of whom 1,176 work for public universities and 401 for foundation universities.

As many as 124 deans from 10 universities have submitted their resignation since the instruction of the YÖK.
