Turkish police continue their repression against the people in solidarity with the hunger strike campaign.
The Marmara Prisons Solidarity Initiative wanted to hold a press conference today in front of Bakırköy Prison to support hunger strikes demanding the end of the isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
However the press conference was prevented by the police.
It has been reported that the press conference had been banned by the Istanbul Governor's Office. Initiative members went to Cağaloğlu as they wanted to talk to Governor Ali Yerlikaya.
March to Governor’s office
The Marmara Prison Solidarity Initiative decided to hold the press conference in front of the governor's office. However the police prevented the Initiative members to do so and therefore the activists decided to march to Sirkeci Square.
Activists however were once again blocked by the police when they arrived at the square chanting slogans like "Leyla Güven is our honor" and “Resisting we will win“.
