Actions in 4 cities to support hunger strikers

Actions and protests are being promoted all over Europe in support to the hunger strikers demanding the end of isolation against Abdullah Öcalan.

Protests in solidarity with hunger strikers took place in the French suburb of Villeneuve Saint Georges as well as in Basel, Zurich and Marseille.

Basel

In Basel, a protest was held in solidarity with the hunger strikes resistance led by DTK co-chair and HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

A rally was held in Claraplatz. The rally was promoted by the Solidarity with Hunger Strikes Platform.

People chanted slogans reiterating that ‘Leyla’s demands are our demands’.

Information on the hunger strikes has been handed out by activists in German.

Activists called on the European institutions to act before is too late.

Zurich

A demonstration in Zurich was organised to support the hunger strike resistance and demand the end of isolation.

The demo was held at Bahnhofplatz and was promoted by the Zurich Solidarity with Hunger Strikes Platform.

Slogans were chanted to support Leyla Güven and demand freedom for Abdullah Öcalan.

Activists condemned the silence of the international institutions.

Ville Neuve St. Georges

An action was held in Villeneuve Saint Georges, Paris, to give voice to the hunger strikers.

A rally was organised and began with a minute silence for the martyrs of freedom.

A call was made at the end of the rally to join the march and rally planned for 27 February in Brussels.

Marseille

An action in support of the hunger strikes led by Leyla Güven to demand the end of the isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was organised in Marseille.

Meeting in front of the European Regional Representation in Marseille, Kurds and their friends urged the European Institutions to act before is too late.

Activists condemned the silence of European media, and institutions.

A delegation entered the European Regional building and left a carpet containing information about the hunger strike and the demands of the activists.
