Activists across Europe celebrate Peace Day

DUISBURG

Tens of people gathered in Kuhtor to join the march promoted by DKTM, I, DIDF, MLPD, REBELL Duisburg, Solidarität International and held a rally against armament on the occasion of 1 September World Peace Day in Duisburg.

Speeches made on behalf of the rally organization committee drew attention to the fact that global defense spending increased from 1.8 trillion dollars to 1.92 trillion dollars in 2019.

Zozan Torhildan, spoke on behalf of the DKTM. She pointed out that the AKP-MHP government should be protested against for the war and occupation attacks it carries out on Kurdistan and added that the key to peace and solution is Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The attempts of the German police to prevent the photos of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan from being carried was protested by activists.

FRANKFURT

A march organized and attended by trade unions was held in Frankfurt to mark World Peace Day. Representatives of participating organizations made a speech before the march in Gallusangale.

The people of Kurdistan who took part in the protest also paid tribute to lawyer Ebru Timtik who died on the 238th day of death fast demanding a fair trial and called on everyone to act now to save the life of lawyer Aytaç Ünsal.

Xalid Derviş from Rojava sent a message which was read during at the demonstration.

MANNHEIM

A march was held in Mannheim demanding freedom for Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and status for Kurdistan.

DKTM executives, Die Linke and MLPD spoke at the demo.

MARSEILLE

Kurdish people demanded freedom for Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan in Marseille.

Activists commended the resistance of Heftanin at the demonstration organized by Arin Mirkan Women's Council and Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger.

PARIS

A march was organized from Sarcelles Train Station to Mandela Park on the occasion of September 1 in Paris.

At the rally in Mandela Park speeches were delivered underlining that the imperialist system uses colour separation to create division among people and repress people even more.

MONTPELLIER

A peace rally was also held in Montpellier.

The rally was organised by DKTM, the women's commune and the collective for solidarity with the Kurds.

Activists asked to stop the massacres carried out by the Turkish state. Calls were made to the French state and the UN.

Lawyer Ebru Timtik was commemorated and a call was made to save the life of lawyer Aytaç Ünsal who is still on death fast.

LONDON

KCDK-Bashur British committee organised the rally to mark World Peace Day in London. Activists gathered in front of Amnesty International's headquarters and the organisation was protested for not doing enough to expose the rights violations in Kurdistan and the Middle East.

Ercan Akbal on behalf of the British Kurdish People's Assembly and the spokesperson of the KCDK - Bashur Britain committee delivered speeches.

BERN

A human chain was organised in Bern to mark September 1, World Peace Day.

Bern Democratic Forces Union (Berne DGB) promoted the rally in front of the Swiss National Parliament.
