Activists from Mannheim took over the Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Vigil, which continues in Strasbourg on its 547th week.
The Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Vigil was launched on 25 June 2012 in Strasbourg to demand freedom for Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and to break the isolation imposed on him. The vigil has reached week 547.
A group of activists from Mannheim took over the vigil on Monday.
The group includes Mahmut Kasem, Kerim Tüzün, Fatih Dağ and Mustafa Yıldız.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Mahmut Kasem pointed out that there has been no news from Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan for the last two years, and said: "Neither the Kurdish people nor their friends accept the fact that the CPT did not see Öcalan during their visit to Imrali. We condemn this situation. We, the Kurdish people and their friends, condemn the silence of the European institution, the CPT, and the world. Let them know that this struggle will continue until the end. This vigil will be held until President Apo is free, and the Kurdish people will stand up everywhere."
Kerim Tuzun, on the other hand, condemned the Turkish state's bombardments against Bashur and Rojava Kurdistan, as well as the chemical weapons attacks against the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas.
