A group of activists from Rennes took over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg and called for unity against the occupation and isolation.
The Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Initiative launched on 25 June 2012 in Strasbourg to demand freedom for Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and to end the isolation, has entered its 514th week.
In the new week, members of the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in the Rennes region of France took over the action. The group includes Fırat Şah, Juliette Gall and Gökhan Laşer.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Fırat Shah condemned the Turkish state's invasion attack on Medya Defense Areas in partnership with the KDP, and saluted the historical resistance carried out by the guerrillas.
Commemorating the fallen guerrillas, Shah stated that the Kurdish people should react to the betrayal of the KDP.
Shah said that the invasion attacks are carried out together with isolation, and added: “As long as the isolation on Leader Apo is not lifted and we cannot ensure his freedom, the invasion attacks of the Turkish state will continue.”
Shah said that wherever the Kurdish people are united, they should protest occupation, isolation and betrayal.
