Activists from RiseUp4Rojava block Turkish Airlines check-in counter at Helsinki-Vantaa airport

Activists from RiseUp4Rojava Finland blocked the Turkish Airlines check-in counter at Helsinki-Vantaa airport.

Activists from RiseUp4Rojava Finland blocked the Turkish Airlines check-in counter at Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The action was carried out by some 20 activists who told  passengers the action was "to protest the Turkish military occupation in Rojava by causing disruption to the airline company owned by the fascist Turkish state, and drawing attention to the fact that the profits made off of these flights flow into the war against the freedom movement in Rojava and elsewhere in Kurdistan."

The check-in area was blocked by the activists flying the flags of the YPG/YPJ, shouting slogans such as "Peace in Kurdistan" and "Bijî Berxwedana Rojava". The activists chanted: "STOP TURKEY'S OCCUPTION!".

In a statement, the activists said: "We call on the future Finnish Government to condemn Turkey's brutal military actions in Kurdistan and to impose a ban on the export of arms and military equipment to Turkey. We must not only boycott and refrain from supporting the oppressive Turkish regime and its war machine; we must actively oppose it."

The international RiseUp4Rojava campaign has previously blocked Turkish Airlines check-in counters and offices across Europe in protest at Turkey's war of aggression in northern Syria, and the political repression by the Turkish regime.
