Activists from Salzgitter take over Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg

Salzgitter DKTM members took over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg.

The Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Vigil was launched on 25 June 2012 in Strasbourg, demanding the end of the isolation imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and to ensure his physical freedom.

Members of Germany's Salzgitter Democratic Kurdish Community Center (DKTM) took over the action on its 535th day.

The group includes Demhat Atman, Yusuf Bilici and Vedat Satır.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Demhat Atman said: “We are happy to be here in Strasbourg, but at the same time we are sad, because our leader has been in isolation for 23 years and has not been seen for 3 years. The Freedom Vigil has been held for 10 years. We believe that we will liberate our leader, and we will give a great answer to the invading states. Our leader has broken the strongest chains in Kurdistan and the Middle East with his ideas and ideology. We see that many European young people are following the ideas of our Leader to liberate themselves. The Freedom Vigil action is for all humanity. All humanity needs to stand up for the Öcalan.”

Atman also condemned the invasion war against Rojava, the murder of children and the use of chemicals against the guerrillas.
