The 380th week of the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in front of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg was taken over by a group of activists from Sweden.
This week, week 380, a group of five people from Sweden is in charge of the Vigil. They are Dirvan Bakur, Hamit Nerji, Dersim Ercan, Halil Özberk and Çekjin Qamishlo.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Çekjin Qamishlo said that the 8th year Vigil action showed that the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan would not be bargained.
Underlining that Öcalan presented the only project that would enable Kurds and Middle Eastern peoples to live with a dignified peace and equality, Çekjin Qamishlo said that the world is avoiding to see the massacres of Kurds. Qamishlo also stressed that both the Council of Europe and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) should not remain silent about the isolation of Öcalan.
The activists appealed to all Kurds and friends living in Europe to join the Vigil.
Since 25 June 2012 Kurdish activists have been making sure that every week there is a group taking over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil and at least once a month the Vigil is taken over by TJK-E women.
