Activists in Argentina delivered a letter to the Argentine Foreign Minister, Santiago Cafiero, in which they exposed the attacks carried out by Turkey against the Kurdistan regions.
The letter, condemned the use of chemical weapons by Turkey and was signed, among others, by Nora Cortiñas and Marta Baravalle, members of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo -Founding Line-; Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Nobel Peace Prize; journalists Marta Dillon and Liliana Daunes; feminist writer Diana Maffia, and political scientist and writer Atilio Borón.
The letter requested the Argentinian Government to:
“Carry out all the necessary actions to contribute to the end of this silenced war that is costing the lives of hundreds of innocent people, urging the Government of Turkey to resume peace talks with the political representatives of the Kurdish people, as the only alternative to reach a peaceful, urgent and necessary solution to the conflict. The continuous violations of Human Rights and war crimes committed by the Turkish State must cease immediately;
– express the solidarity of the Argentinian State towards the Kurdish people, who are facing a new attempt of genocide;
– carry out all actions within its reach before all the international organizations of which the Republic of Argentina is a part, in particular the OPCW, with the aim of initiating a serious and in-depth investigation, aimed at determining the responsibility of the Turkish State in the indicated facts and definitively put an end to the use of chemical weapons by the Turkish government;
– carry out all the pertinent actions in the international context so that Turkey ceases the attacks, bombardments and invasion and occupation maneuvers deployed in the north and east of Syria.
– request the members of the Argentine diplomatic corps accredited to Turkey to collect all possible information about the circumstances detailed here, and inform the Argentinian people through the channels provided for such purposes.”
