In the south of Mexico City, activists have painted a large mural in the courtyard of Tlahuac City Hall in solidarity with the Kurdish struggle for freedom. Members of different collectives and organisations gathered there at the weekend for a protest rally against the Turkish attacks on the guerrillas and the radical democratic model of Democratic Confederalism in Rojava.
Communiqués from the anti-capitalist resistance were read out while the mural was being made. The Pueblos Unidos de la región Cholulteca protested against the expropriation of their land for water privatisation by Bonafont, a company belonging to the Danone group.
In their contribution, the activists emphasised that the Kurdish resistance was an inspiration for the Nahua people of central Mexico and vowed that the common resistance against capitalism would continue.
The slogan "Defending Kurdistan means defending life" is a way of standing up for and defending the Kurdish revolution all over the planet, said a statement by the organisers, who called for a global struggle against capitalism and patriarchy.
