Activists protest Turkish attacks against Kurds occupying the Turkish airline's desk at Milan Malpensa Airport.

The activists said: "Since 20 November, Turkey began a vast military operation in Rojava targeting villages and civilians to destroy infrastructures such as hospitals, electric power plants and grain reserves, isolating the population too."

The activists added: "The Turkish state's use of chemical weapons, weapons banned by international conventions, is attested, despite the fact that dictator Erdogan has done everything to prevent investigative operations by the OPCW (Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons), by setting up fake commissions of inquiry and jailing domestic whistleblowers."

The activists continued: "In addition, the detention of leader Abdullah Ocalan on Imrali prison island, where he has been held since 1999 in maximum isolation, continues. A few weeks ago, the Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) had scheduled a visit with him to monitor his condition, but the meeting did not take place and the reason for it is unknown. We decided to block the Turkish Airlines check-in: to expose the Turkish state, its policies, and its nature that, on the international stage, is praised as even a strategic peacekeeper."

The goal of these actions, said the activists, is "to pressure institutions and the press to reveal Italy's complicity with this war as well. We must demand that the Italian state commit itself to stopping Erdogan's warmongering aims by immediately stopping the supply of armaments to the Turkish state."
