Afghanistan, which has had a turbulent recent history, was yesterday the scene of solidarity marches with Kobanê.
Afghan politics, stuck for so long in a vice between Islamist circles and NATO pressure, registered significant progress.
Rallies took place in 7 provinces of Afghanistan yesterday. The marches were organised by the Solidarity Party of Afghanistan (SPA) in the provinces of Herat, Farah, Nangarhar, Balkh, Takhar, Nimruz and Bamyan, and were attended by thousands of people.
ISIS flags were burnt at the demonstrations, and deamnds for NATO to leave Afghanistan were raised. Marchers carried photos of the people of Kobanê and YPJ women fighters, and the slogan “Kobanê Tenya Nist” (Kobanê is not alone) were shouted. There were no incidents on any of the marches, unlike in Turkey.
There were also rallies in solidarity with Kobanê and against ISIS in 6 cities in India yesterday.
