After the Socialist Party, the Green Party took important decisions during its central delegation congress yesterday. Green Party Co-presidents Regula Rytz and Luca Maggi, Swiss delegates and parliamentarians, and HDP Mardin parliamentarian Mithat Sancar participated in the congress held in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
The congress began with the speeches of Green Party Co-presidents Rytz and Maggi, and participants discussed the undemocratic policies of Erdoğan and the AKP government in Kurdistan and Turkey during the majority of the event.
HASHIM SANCAR: ALL LAWS ARE IGNORED
Green Party Bern Canton parliamentarian Hashim Sancar spoke during the congress and emphasized that Erdoğan has been ignoring all laws in his attempt to establish a one-man regime in Turkey.
MİTHAT SANCAR: EUROPE’S PASSIVE STANCE IS UNACCEPTABLE
HDP Mardin parliamentarian Mithat Sancar also spoke during the congress and stated that the presidential regime established in Turkey is not a presidential regime in the European sense. Sancar said that a regime in which one person has absolute power and the system works for the goals of this ruler is being created in Turkey. Sancar emphasized that the war policies of the Turkish state and Erdoğan targeting Kurdish people in Turkey and Rojava aim the total destruction of Kurdish people and their representatives, and criticized Europe for its passive stance against the oppressive regime in Turkey. Sancar recalled the attacks and arrests targeting HDP members, and described Europe’s silence on the issue as unacceptable.
RYTZ: WE MUST TAKE A CLEAR STANCE AGAINST ERDOĞAN
Green Party Co-president Regula Rytz emphasized that every individual in Europe should take action against the unlawful policies implemented in Turkey, and criticized Switzerland and the rest of Europe for their passive stance against the Turkish state. Rytz said “We must take a clear stance against Erdoğan and increase our solidarity with the democratic circles in Turkey, particularly the HDP.”
After these speeches, delegates voted on the “For peace and human rights in Turkey” declaration, which was approved and will determine the stance of the Green Party regarding the developments in Turkey. Below is the declaration of the Green Party in Switzerland:
Swiss Green Party is concerned about:
The arrest of HDP parliamentarians and mayors
