Aggravated life sentence sought for HDP MP Ferhat Encü

Aggravated life sentence has been demanded for HDP Şırnak parliamentarian Ferhat Encü who is jailed in the scope of the government's all-out crackdown against Kurds and their elected representatives.

As part of Şırnak Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office’s investigation regarding the injury of former Uludere governor Naif Yavuz during his visit to Roboski village on December 31, 2011, right after the massacre, HDP Şırnak parliamentarian Ferhat Encü was sued 5 years after the incident as he is currently serving time in Kandıra Type F Prison. Şırnak 2nd Heavy Penal Court accepted the indictment that was prepared on November 9, 2016, 5 days after Encü was imprisoned.

The HDP parliamentarian, who lost his brother Serhat Encü and 9 other relatives in the massacre, is now accused of having kicked former governor Yavuz, on which grounds an aggravated life sentence has been demanded for him.
