Akdeniz Co-mayor and 21 people referred to court in Mersin

22 people including Mersin's Akdeniz district municipality co-mayor Yüksel Mutlu have been referred to court after 11 days in custody.

Akdeniz district municipality co-mayor Yüksel Mutlu and 21 other people were taken into custody as part of the increasingly ongoing political genocide operations in Mersin province on December 12.

The detainees who include HDP provincial chair Sadun Doğan and former chair Selman Günbat have been referred to Mersin Courthouse today.

In the meantime, there is an arrest warrant issued for as many as 46 people who include Akdeniz Co-mayor M. Fazıl Türk.

Following the detentions, Akdeniz District Governor Hamdi Bilge was assigned as trustee to the Akdeniz municipality on December 18.
