Salih Akman, who lost the elections against HDP co-chair candidates Yılmaz Berki and Ayşe Minaz by a clear margin in the 31 March 2019 elections, was appointed as mayor of Tusba by decree after the elections.
Salih Akman was appointed as mayor of Van's Tusba district by decree after the 2019 elections and continues to give his relatives jobs in the municipality.
He appointed his nephew Sinan Koçak as Private Secretary and his other nephew Aziz Akman, who was the director of the Muradiye National Education Branch, as Deputy Mayor.
Not content with this, Akman ended up hiring almost all his relatives and appointed them as directors or supervisors at various levels of the municipality.

Answering to protest after the assignment of his two nephews as executive, Akman said that he did not hire first-degree relatives.
