AKP prosecutor objects to the release of HDP MP Güven

Prosecutor has objected to the release warrant given for DTK (Democratic Society Congress) Co-chair Leyla Güven, who was elected deputy for Hakkari in June 24 elections. Güven hasn’t been released yet.

Diyarbakır 9th Heavy Penal Court has unanimously approved the objection filed by lawyer Reyhan Yalçındağ against the imprisonment of HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Hakkari MP Leyla Güven who is held hostage in Diyarbakır E Type Closed Prison.

While Güven was expected to be released from prison today, the prosecutor for 9th Heavy Penal Court has filed an objection to the 10th Heavy Penal Court against the release warrant.

Arguing this decision to be against procedures and law, the prosecutor demanded that the release warrant be lifted and arrest warrant be issued for Güven.

Upon the swift objection, Public Prosecutor’s Office has not sent the decision warrant of 9th Heavy Penal Court to Diyarbakır E Type Prison.

According to lawyers, the prison administration said they have not received a release warrant for Güven. Lawyers described this attempt as an “unlawful act”.
