According to Turkish Statistical Institute (Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu- TÜİK) data for the month of May, inflation has increased 1.62% from the previous month.
This marks the highest inflation rate for May in the last 15 years, and annual inflation is at a peak since the AKP government switched to new base calculations. Every 100 Liras the people had last year would now come to 87.5 Liras in purchasing power.
The Consumer Price Index (2003=100) has increased 1.62% over the previous month in May 2018, 6.39% from the month of December and 12.15% from May 2017, showing an average of 11.10% increase over 12 months.
