Amedspor Deputy Chairman Edemen has made a statement on the racist attack the team suffered after their game with Ankaragücü in Turkish capital yesterday. Edemen said “They want to suppress the struggle of Amedspor” regarding the attack on the team in Ankara. Edemen recalled that the attacking side Ankaragücü team had been greeted with special celebrations when they had visited Amed.
Edemen said attacks like these are caused by the perception the Federation creates about them. He expressed that the Ankaragücü administration started protesting them after Amedspor scored their second goal, and said, “They attacked us in the protocol section of the tribunes. All of the attackers were people with accreditation cards. I have a broken nose. Soran Mızrak has a gash in his eyebrow. There has been an effort to create a negative perception about Amedspor since the beginning of the season. These events are a result of that created perception.”
“THEY WANT TO SUPPRESS OUR STRUGGLE”
Amedspor Deputy Chairman recalled that in the soccer match with Keçiörengücü, 3 points had been taken away from them for alleged “racist and ideological slogans” from their supporters. He said, “We shared the 90 minute video from this game. We shared the minutes the Federation cites in particular. They can broadcast the game from the country’s national networks,so we see where the ideological speech is. They just want to suppress the struggle of Amedspor with these things.”
“IT’S NOT HUMANE”
Edemen recalled that they had picked up the Ankaragücü team with their own personal vehicles and took them to breakfast when they visited Amed and said, “This act is not befitting with anything. It’s not sportsmanship and it’s not humane.”
ÖZMEN: THERE SHOULD BE CONSEQUENCES
Lawyer Ahmet Özmen from Amed Bar Association visited the Amedspor administratiors in Numune Hospital. Özmen stated that Amedspor is subjected to a systemic racist and targeting treatment and said, “I condemn this attack in the name of our bar association. We demand this inhumane attack be investigated by the Turkish Football Federation and by the Youth and Sports Ministry and the Public Prosecution Office and we demand both the club and the responsible individuals be punished.”
