Fırat News Agency (ANF) reporter İsmail Yıldız has been released after bearing testimony at a court in Istanbul's Çağlayan district on Saturday. Yıldız was among the seven journalists Istanbul 15th High Criminal Court ruled to release on Friday in the ongoing Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Press Case. He was however taken to a police headquarters on Friday evening on the grounds of a warrant of arrest issued for him in the scope of another case he had been tried in before.
Speaking to ANF following his release, Yıldız said that ; “Some of us have been released but this is not enough to make us feel free and think justice is done. We can make a mention of justice only when all jailed journalists as well as ten thousand Kurdish political prisoners are released”.
Yıldız pointed out that the released journalists will continue to do their work, adding; “I was planning to write my first news on today's sit-in by Saturday Mothers but my detention today didn't allow me to do so. I am a journalist from Kurdistan, as I was while entering the prison. I am proud of my job and I will continue to do my work for ANF in a manner more determined than ever”.
