Another appeal for Demirtaş’s release rejected

Turkish judiciary has rejected another appeal for the release of HDP’s Presidential Candidate Selahattin Demirtaş.

The 19th High Criminal Court of Ankara has recently rejected the application filed by HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) Batman deputy Ayşe Acar Başaran and a group of lawyers on May 15 asking for the release of HDP Presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtaş.

HDP Law Commission filed an objection against the court decision on May 22.

The renewed appeal for Demirtaş’s release has also been rejected by the 20th High Criminal Court of Ankara on Thursday, reported Demirtaş’s lawyer Mahsuni Karaman on Twitter.

Karaman said “the only option we have is to appeal to the Constitutional Court for the case to be handled with priority and measure”.
