Arrest warrant for HDP MP Güven before she is released from jail

It has emerged that an arrest warrant has been issued for the Hakkari’s newly elected HDP deputy even before her release from prison.

In a dramatic twist on Friday it has emerged that an arrest warrant has been issued for newly elected deputy Leyla Güven for HDP in Hakkari.

The arrest warrant was issued before the release from prison of the HDP deputy.

Lawyer Reyhan Yalçındağ Baydemir said: “We haven’t received the warrant yet but we have been informed of it.”

Güven’s lawyer Yalçındağ Baydemir had appealed to Diyarbakir 9th High Criminal Court, which is dealing with the case.

Indeed the Court had ruled to free Güven early on Friday, but Diyarbakir Public Prosecutor's Office stated that the decision was against the procedure stating that there was an escape danger for the co-chair of the DTK.

Despite the Court's decision to free the HDP deputy, Diyarbakir E-type prison administration delayed the release saying it had received no notice of the decision.

Lawyer Reyhan Yalçındağ Baydemir told Mesopotamian Agency (MA) that “despite the rule of the Court my client was not released. We have been verbally notified that a new arrest warrant has been issued, but we haven’t seen anything in writing yet.”
