Sixteen people were taken into custody in Þýrnak’s Ýdil and Balveren districts as a result of simultaneous raids by military and police forces on Thursday night.
Arrests operations continue in the region of Þýrnak where 47 people have been taken into custody in the last one week. Five people including two children aged 16 were arrested in the district of Ýdil (Hezex) where police teams blockaded three neighborhoods with armored vehicles and raided a number of houses last night. The reason for detentions hasn’t been closed yet. Detainees were taken to Ýdil Police Headquarters.
Eleven other people, including Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) executive Leyla Bayram, were detained last night in the district of Balveren (Gundike Mele). Detainees were taken to National Gendarmerie Battalion Command.
Detention operations by security forces were also carried out in the southern province of Mersin where a child, aged 17, was taken into custody last night. Another child, also aged 17, was also detained in Mardin’s Nusaybin district and then brought to Mersin in the scope of the same investigation conducted by the Public Prosecutor of Mersin. The two minors who are accused of being members of an illegal organization are being held at Mersin Police Headquarters and are expected to be referred to the prosecution office today.
