Asya Abdullah: Soon we will give the good news
PYD Co-President Asya Abdullah addressed those maintaining the resistance vigil at the border by telephone, saying: "A great resistance is going on. Soon we will give the good news that Kobanê is free.” Abdullah reacted to Turkish President Erdoğan claiming: "Kobanê is an Arab town”, emphasising that Kobanê has always been Kurdish.
PYD Co-President Asya Abdullah spoke to citizens who have been maintaining a vigil in the village of Mehser in Suruç district for days.
She called Feleknas Uca, a founder member of the DTK, last night, greeting those at the resistance vigil. She said: "You are waging an honourable resistance. Thanks to you the Kobanê resistance is known all over the world.” She added that the vigil was a great source of morale for the YPG/YPJ fighters, who are inflicting serious blows on the ISIS gangs. Asya Abdullah said the gangs were taking out their anger by burning houses, but that their attacks were doomed to fail, stressing; “Victory will be ours.”
Asya Abdullah stressed that a great resistance was going on in Kobanê, saying: "Your solidarity action should continue. Soon we will give you the good news that Kobanê has been liberated. Then we will expect you all to come.” She added that international and regional forces led by Turkey were involved in chicanery towards Kobanê, but said none of these schemes would succeed against the resistance.
Asya Abdullah reacted angrily to Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan's comment that "Kobanê is an Arab town", saying that Kobanê has always been Kurdish. People at the vigil listening carefully to Asya Abdullah waited until the end of her speech before shouting: "Long live the resistance of the YPG/YPJ" and "Long live the resistance of Kobanê".
