At least five soldiers including a lieutenant were killed and many others injured in clashes in Hakkari’s Çukurca district on Monday, according to initial reports received from local sources.

Clashes reportedly broke out following the operation Turkish army has launched in Kazan Valley and rural areas of village of Serêsêvê at early morning hours today.

Injured soldiers have been taken to Þýrnak Military Hospital with helicopters.

Clashes are reported to be continuing in the region where cobra type helicopters have been sent to support the operation.
