At least twenty Gezi protestors detained in Ankara

Ankara police have taken at last 20 people into custody, raiding some 30 addresses early Tuesday morning in the scope of Gezi protests.

The operation by units of Ankara police directorate's anti-terror branch targeted people who joined Gezi protests in the capital.

The number of detainees is expected to increase in the scope of the operation which is still going on.

Four people have been killed and thousands of others wounded as a result of excessive use of police force against protestors across the country.

Ahmet Şahbaz, the police officer who shot protestor Ethem Sarısülük in Ankara on 1 June, has been released by a court late Monday, on the grounds that the police officer defended himself against protestors.
