Attacks on the increase in Tuz Khurmatu

Attack on Shia militia Hashd al-Shaabi in Tuz Khurmatu has resulted in casualties.

An explosion occurred during the passing of a vehicle of Hashd al-Shaabi in Tuz Khurmatu countryside Sunday evening.

The mine attack took place near the village of Bir Ehmedi in the town of Zergey.

According to RojNews agency, Hashd al-Shaabi Northern Forces Spokesman Ali Hisen Haşimi said the following on the incident; “A mine explosion occurred while a unit from the 52nd Brigade of Hashd al-Shaabi was on its way to a mission. The explosion left 2 people dead and 2 others wounded.”

While no group has claimed responsibility for the explosion yet, ISIS attacks in the region have increased recently. Haşimi said; “We think the attack was carried out by ISIS.”

A mortar attack in Askari neighborhood of Tuz Khurmatu had left a woman seriously injured on August 23.

In a previous incident, another mine explosion hit a military convoy of the Iraqi army on June 26, killing a soldier and wounding three others.
